IELTS Writing Task 2

You have 40 minutes to write 250 words.

Below are the five different question types that will be encountered in Task 2 of the writing section:

1. Do you agree or disagree

2. Discuss both views and give your opinion.

3. Discuss the advantages and disadvantages.

4. Discuss the problems and possible solutions.

5. Is this a positive or a negative development

All body paragraphs should include topic sentences, examples, explanations, or both.

      1. Introduction (40-50 words) 

         1. The thesis must be specific (I agree because…) (Topic sentences - main arguments will be in the thesis)

      3. Conclusion (40-50 words) 

   3. Why do you not need an opinion in your conclusion? 

      1. Because the whole essay is your opinion.
